Project Marko will be a tool to aid the visually-impaired in their everyday navigation and interaction with environments. It will use a series of vibration motors, in conjunction with Google Tango's depth perception, motion tracking, and area-learning capabilities to provide a better understanding of the user's surroundings through sensory substitution. Extensive experimentation and user-testing will help to develop a system of haptic feedback that will provide an unobtrusive and easily-adaptable solution to alert the user to the proximity of objects and obstacles in their direct vacinity.
